CARACTÉRISATION DES POISSONS D’EAU DOUCE

Abstract

This study is conducted on Algerian freshwater fish occupying the terminal area of Oued Cheliff located in Mostaganem city; for the purpose of identifying, characterizing and comparing the specimens. The fish were caught in a period from December to May by two fishing nets (longline and net link) from four different areas of the Oued: two areas on the terminal part of Oued Cheliff: one of which is close to the delta and the other one is 5 km further, both other fishing sites are from Oued Fodda and Oued Zeddine and a fifth zone from barrage Bouhnifia. To achieve our goals; species identification was realized using identification keys. So we identified eight species of which four occupy the terminal region of the Oued: Common bar (Dicentrarchus labrax), mullet (Mugil cephalus); the common carp (Cyprinus carpio); the Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio). The mirror carp (Cyprinus carpio carpio), The roach (Rutilus rutilus) and the chub (Squalius cephalus) are not included. We also captured Algerian barbel (Barbus callensis) from barrage Bouhnifia. Morphometric analysis has shown that there is no significant difference between members of the same species caught from both zones of the terminal areas of the wadi in exception of weight and height. we found few information only on Cyprinus carpio’s genome and detected the mirror mutation using search engines such as NCBI.
