An ethno-veterinary study of medicinal plants was carried out in the region of Mostaganem and mascara in order to establish a catalog of medicinal plants treating livestock and also to gather information concerning their therapeutic use by the local population of some communes of the region. We used a questionnaire form distributed to informants of different age groups and academic level in order to collect the maximum of information during 2 months (May-june). 30 collected forms were coded and analyzed with the help of descriptive statistics; the answers to our questionnaire lead us to the following results Only 33% of the farmers in the region use traditional veterinary practices while 67% prefer to use modern practices. Our results also allowed us to identify 21 medicinal plants related to 7 major families.en_US
