Résumé:
The prevention of cancers is a public health priority since they represent the leading cause of premature death in Algeria, thus cervical cancer is the second cancer in women under 50. A cervico-uterine smear (FCU) can diagnose precancerous lesions, start treatment early and prevent the development of invasive cancer.
The purpose of this memory work is to study a few cases of cervical cancer in women in the wilaya of Mostaganem.
For this, 80 patients with cervical cancer aged 20 to 80 years were followed over a period of one month at the cytology department of the Polyclinic of Benyeza Belfassi (Mazagran, Mostaganem). We performed Pap smears to detect precancerous lesions and cancer in our population. This population has been divided into three age groups.
Our results show that:
• The most affected age group is between 40 to 60 years old, followed by 40 to 60 years old and finally 60 to 80 years old. The percentages are respectively: 25%, 62.5% and 12.5%.
• The evaluation of intraepithelial lesions shows percentages of 2%, 3% and 5% for FCV 1, FCV 2 and FCV 3 respectively.
• Of the 4% of our patients with FCV3 (low grade lesion), only 1% represented FCV1.
All of our results show that the age group most affected is between 40 and 60 years of age as well as a predominance of FCV 3.
