Here is no doubt that globalization has brought up the world together. That lead to cross- cultural communication. Accordingly, language teaching has changed to a more focus on teaching culture along with the language as an inseparable part to overcome the cultural issues. In this dissertation, we deal with what is meant by culture and break down its elements. We examine the facilitative factor of culture in language and communication to raise cultural awareness among language students. Through raising cultural awareness, the students will be able to overcome misunderstanding with people from different nation using the target language. The research has opted for the classroom observation, the use of a semi- structured interview with three teachers at Mostaganem University, and a questionnaire with twenty-seven students from different faculties. The data obtained were both qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed. The results have shown that teaching ICC improves students’ intercultural awareness and competence and help them achieve effective communication.
