This is an exhaustive descriptive and cross-sectional epidemiological study of all confirmed
Covid-19 cases reported at the EPH of Ain Tedeles. Its objective was to describe the clinical profil of
subjects examined at EPH who presented with a confirmed Covid-19 infectious episode. The study
involved all cases recorded from the month of March 2020 to the same month of the year 2021. 926
patients were hospitalized in the Covid-19 service and 667 cases were confirmed positive by RT-PCR.
There were 56 deaths in the department, of which 29 were PCR positive. The analysis of the data
allowed us to record two epidemic peaks, the first of which was reported in the month of August
2020 and the second peak was recorded during the month of December 2020. The municipality that
was most affected by Covid-19 is that of Ain Tedeles, the sex most affected by the virus was male
with a proportion of 57%. The most contaminated age group was 50-65 years. Patients with a chronic
history were the first victims of the virus with a rate of 61%. The municipality of Sidi-Bellatar had the
highest mortality rate from Covid-19 (apparent CFR of 22.22%), with a high mortality rate of 62%
among men compared to women. High blood pressure and diabetes mellitus are the chronic
diseases with proven comorbidity (66%) and generally affect patients aged 65 to 80 years. However,
the cases of recovered patients were numerous and estimated at 96%.
