This study aims to characterize the association of diabetes and thyroid disorder with pregnancy in our population by estimating risk factors; as well as to determine morbidities of delivery and to evaluate maternal-fetal complications.
We performed a retrospective study of 156 pregnant women; divided into two categories ;1st one is pregnant woman under the age of 35 years old and the 2nd category is pregnant woman over 35years old. This study was conducted by collecting data from pregnant patients ‘records forms from various medical analysis laboratories in the state of Mostaganem. In our study the frequency of diabetic pregnant woman under the age of 35 years old is 41% The frequency of pregnant woman with thyroid disorder under the age of 35 years old is 22% and 37% between them has diabetes associated with thyroid disorder. Through our study we noticed that the most impact factor is the age over 35y.o (59.41%). Between pregnant woman over 35y.o the frequency of diabetic ones is 29%; 25% has thyroid disorder and 46% has diabetes associated with thyroid disorder ; In general, diabetes can effect the activity of thyroid gland and the dysfunctionality of thyroid gland can effect diabetes and this two frequent pathologies can effect the pregnancy, the mother safety and the fetus.
