In this present study, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities were aimed at
evaluating and studying the protective effect of Elettaria cardamomum.
The determination of phenolic compounds (polyphenols and flavonoids) was estimated
at a very efficient level of 343.90 ± 32.26 mg EAG / g extract and 305.65 ± 64.27 mg EQ / g
extract respectively. In addition, for the anti-radical activity was evaluated more than 90% at a
concentration of the order of 100 μg / mL of EEC extract compared to the concentration of 10
μg / ml of extract of EEC of which; the radical inhibition was approximately 50%. In
addition, the ethanolic extract of E. Cardamomum (EEC) has an IC50 of 11.2 μg / mL.
Moreover, the results of the inflammation caused by the intraperitoneal injection of
carrageenin in Wistar rats revealed that, through the administration of 200 mg / kg / EEC, a
proportion of 8 g / l of total protein and 4.5g / dL of albumin were estimated in rats. On the
other hand, 2.5 g / l and 1.5 g / dL of total protein and albumin respectively in the control
group rats. In addition, a significant content of fibrinogen and glycemia in the control rats;
exposed to 200 μl of carrageenan.
In addition, the histopathological study reveals that the liver of rats treated with 200
mg / kg / EEC after being injected with 200 μl of carrageenan has a normal histological
structure of the hepatic parenchyma, hepatocytes and central veins lobular except for slight
congestion. It can be concluded that the ethanolic EEC extract containing phenolic
compounds has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. |
