Résumé:
Language policy in Algeria since independence is a combination of different
perspectives. The main objective of the study is to provide an understanding of globalization and its effects on language policy formulation. Nowadays, globalization and the spread of The English language as a lingua franca of the 21st century influences the situation of local languages in Algeria and language policy are a new challenge for Algerian society and decision-makers.
The question of the relationship between globalization and language policy implies a new
approach to study the relations between societies in the light of the current globalization. the dominance of the English language is the result of the world power of the United States. Linguistic
Globalization is embodied above all in the predominance of a language at the expense of other languages.
languages, this phenomenon directly and indirectly affects the Algerian language policy and linguistic practices and attitudes in society. This thesis will be detailed in three
interdependent chapters. The first chapter will explore Algerian language policy since
its independence and its current linguistic situation. The second chapter deals with language planning and policy in its theoretical framework, and globalization and its impact on language and diffusion of English. Finally, the third chapter is a questionnaire that
performs a thorough analysis of the views of different people on the language
attitudes and preferences in Algeria. The conclusion is intended to open new research and field discussion.
