Résumé:
The issue of motivation becomes an outstanding buzz word in the field of education. Motivating learners to develop in the target language is acknowledged to be a complex process. In many instances, students face many obstacles in learning English and are often demotivated to learn. The current study tests students demotivation in the EFL context with LMD English degree students of the University of Abdelhamid Ibn Badis - Mostaganem as a case study. We find it crucial to tackle such a subject, as familiarity with it is barely recognizable and we keep ill-informed about the underlying idea on demotivation. Our study is about the student motivation lacks as well as the teachers’ role in increasing students motivation to learn English. However, students may sometimes lose their willingness and interest towards lesson, which puts a major barrier in front of effective language learning. Therefore, this study is concerned with lack of motivation. To begin with, this study investigates whether or not students are demotivated and it explores also the reasons of disinterest student’s display towards English language-learning. The teachers and students at Abdel Hamid Ibn Badis University were the participants of this study. The data were collected through questionnaires delivered to both teachers and students. After analyzing the data we found that LMD English learners are likely to be demotivated toward learning English especially, the second and third year students. And this is simply because of some factors which caused this phenomenon.
