Abstract

This thesis focuses on the valorization of grape pomace, a vegetable waste, through the production of a magnetic activated carbon for adsorption in binary solution (Rhodamine B and Methylene Blue). The magnetic adsorbent was synthesized by co-precipitating iron oxide nanoparticles in a carbon chemically activated with 40% phosphoric acid. The results reveal a high adsorption capacity, particularly under favorable thermodynamic conditions (spontaneous and endothermic adsorption). The adsorption process is well illustrated by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, and the adsorption isotherm is described by a generalized Langmuir model with a correlation coefficient R²> 0.96. Ease of desorption and regeneration is a major practical advantage for the treatment of industrial effluents. Of the seven solvents used, ethanol/water had the highest desorption capacity for magnetic activated carbon. After four cycles, this material is easily desorbed and regenerated. Given these data and its adsorption capacity, magnetic grape adsorbent appears to be effective in removing dyes from wastewater.
