Abstract
Myocardial infarction (MI) is a major cause of cardiovascular mortality worldwide. Oxidative stress plays an important role in its pathophysiology by promoting myocardial injury. This study aimed to evaluate the redox status as well as troponin and NT-proBNP levels in patients with myocardial infarction.
The study included 20 subjects divided into two groups: 10 patients with myocardial infarction and 10 healthy controls. Oxidative stress biomarkers (MDA, SOD, CAT, GSH, and vitamin C), as well as troponin and NT-proBNP, were measured in blood samples. The obtained data were statistically analyzed to compare the two groups.
The results showed a significant increase in MDA, troponin, and NT-proBNP levels in patients, accompanied by a decrease in antioxidant defenses. These findings confirm the involvement of oxidative stress in the pathophysiology of myocardial infarction.
In conclusion, the combined assessment of redox status, troponin, and NT-proBNP provides complementary information on the biological alterations associated with myocardial infarction.
