Effets antimicrobiens des extraits de Thymus vulgaris chez Candida albicans responsable des infections uro-génitales

Abstract

This work investigates the antifungal activity of extracts of Thymus vulgaris collected from two different regions of the country (Mostaganem and Naama) on the growth of Candida albicans involved in urogenital infections, particularly in female patients.The extracts were obtained by maceration with various solvents with increasing polarities including: hexane, methanol, ethanol and water with different concentrations; (0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100% respectively).Different methods of measurement were used: the direct method, the diffusion disc method, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimum fungicidal concentration (CMF).According to the results obtained; it appears that the native Thymus vulgaris species is endowed with a good number of bioactive antifungal compounds having a fungicidal action against the yeast species Candida albicans.
