Abstract

The objective of this study is to demonstrate the protective effect of Tigzirt's propolis (EAP) ethyl acetate extract on certain antioxidant status parameters and markers of hepatocellular nephrotic And epirubicin induced cardiotoxicity (EPI). A total of 25 male Wistar rats (mean weight between 100 and 150 g) were divided into 5 batches receiving EAP or quercetin (as standard flavonoids) before and after induction of toxicity by Epirubicin (9 mg / kg) by intravenous injection (iv). At the end of the experiment, blood samples were taken by cardiac puncture. The results show that epirubicin induced metabolic alteration with increased serum levels of biochemical parameters and enzymatic activity (urea, creatinine, ASAT, ALAT, PAL, γGT, LDH, CKmb, Troponin T). While administration of propolis restored cardiac, renal and hepatic function. The effect of polyphenols of ethyl acetate extract of Tigzirt propolis on oxidative stress appeared in rats treated with 200 mg / kg / d dose where there was a decrease in MDA malondialdehyde and a Increase in superoxide dismutase SOD and glutathione peroxidase GSH-Px. Our results suggest that propolis may reduce the toxicity induced by epirubicin.
