The study investigated the antimicrobial effect of the aqueous hexane extract of Rosmarinus officinalis L collected in the Naama region of south Algeria on certain reference pathogens including (E. coli, S. typhi, S. aureus and P. aeruginosa). The measurements and controls carried out in triple tests concerned: the growth test, agar diffusion test and methods for determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimum bactericidal concentration (CMB). The pure aqueous hexanic extract of Rosmarinus officinalis L showed a strong bactericidal inhibitory power on the growth of the germs studied, which are often involved in food poisoning. Compared to gentamicin, which is considered a powerful broad-spectrum antibiotic, the plant extract has shown interesting inhibition rates against germs: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi and Escherichia coli. However, Staphylococcus aureus is more resistant to the experimental extracten_US
