Abstract
In thefaceofincreasingwaterscarcityandthegrowingdemandforagriculturalproduction,efficient
irrigation managementhasbecomeakeychallenge—particularlyinAlgeria,wheretheclimateispredomi-
nantly aridandsemi-arid.ThisthesisfocusesonoptimizingsprinklerirrigationthroughtheuseofIntel-
IrriS soilmoisturesensors,appliedtothecultivationofsoftwheat.
The mainobjectiveofthisworkistoevaluatetheeffectivenessofasensor-controlledirrigationsystem
comparedtoconventionalmethods.Thefirstpartofthestudyreviewsthedifferentirrigationtechniques
and theassociatedwaterlosses.Italsoprovidesadetailedanalysisofsoilmoisturesensors—especially
capacitive andresistivetypes—withaspecificfocusontheIntel-IrriSsystem.
The experimentalsectionwascarriedoutontwoplots:oneequippedwithIntel-IrriSsensorsandone
without. Theresultsdemonstratedasignificantreductioninwateruseandimprovedsoilmoisturemana-
gement inthesensor-equippedplot.Sensor-basedirrigationenabledprecisewateringonlywhennecessary,
therebyenhancingirrigationefficiencyandsupportingoptimalcropdevelopment.
This thesisconcludesthatintegratingsmartsensorsintoirrigationsystemsoffersapromisingsolu-
tion forsustainableagriculture—reducingwaterconsumptionandadaptingbettertocurrentclimaticchal-
lenges.
