Abstract

This study examined the importance of maritime transport and its role in achieving economic growth in Algeria, with a focus on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. It reviewed the historical development of transport, its concept, types, and the particular significance of maritime transport. The analysis of the pandemic's impact on the global and Algerian economy showed that maritime transport contributed to the continuity of international trade and mitigated the negative economic effects of the pandemic. The study focused on Mostaganem Port as a case study, highlighting its vital role in supporting the local economy. It concluded with recommendations to enhance infrastructure, adopt technology, and promote cooperation to strengthen the maritime sector and achieve economic growth
