Abstract

This study aims at trying to identify the contribution of the small and medium enterprises in Algeria and its economic role, as this sector is one of the most important sectors that constitute a central axis and an effective engine in the national economy. The state strives to support and promote small and medium enterprises as an alternative sector especially after the changes witnessed by the national economy in recent years, and we have concluded though this study that the small and medium enterprises in Algeria are in development and it was able to exceed 98 percent of the total institutions, although the majority of them are very small enterprises and suffer from many problems and obstacles, but they have been able to provide jobs and contribute to the increase in the value added and the Gross domestic product.
